Perhaps this is because the human body can cover a wide range of symbolisms and meanings; although presumably it is a popular topic because of how these lyrics tackle the subject. Consider the popular song "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer. The title of the song-which comes up several times in the lyrics itself-is an obvious metaphor. The title and the lyrics of the song obviously have sexual undertones-how the body can be a wonderland is left to one's imagination.

Yet, the lyrics itself is self-explanatory. "Cause if you want love, / We'll make it. / Swim in a deep sea, / Of blankets," sings John Mayer, and already the listeners know what he is singing about. The body continues to be a "wonderland" in other song lyrics too.

"My Humps," Black Eyed Peas

This song my Black Eyed Peas does not exactly mention the word "body" in its lyrics, and neither does it directly say that "junk," "hump," and "lumps" are actually certain body parts of the human anatomy.

Yet anyone who is slightly familiar with contemporary popular culture would easily know what the lyrics is talking about. Yet, in the lyrics itself, anyone who isn't familiar with how these words are used can easily catch the song's drift. Note this particular part in the lyrics: "They say I'm really sexy, / The boys they wanna sex me. / They always standing next to me, / Always dancing next to me, Tryin' a feel my hump, hump. / Lookin' at my lump, lump. / You can look but you can't touch it." Despite the sexual meaning of the song, the lyrics of "My Humps" can be considered as accessible without being lewd.

"Addicted, " Ne Yo

The lyrics of Ne Yo's "Addicted" is direct to the point; the tackles the issue of sexual addiction. And it doesn't do it metaphorically or through symbols and innuendos or codes, the way the lyrics of "Your Body is a Wonderland" does. Instead, it directly mentions the words "sex" and "if you lay with me" in its lyrics.
